    in reply to: Seems to be a Tristessa 12\" \"test press\" ? #18297

The original Gish LP on Caroline was pressed in DE, correct? However, it was on the Caroline label, not Virgin or Hut, or SubPop for that matter. All subsequent pressings were the remastered version, and pressed by Virgin/Hut.[/quote:ic3uo7ap]
this is not completely correct. first pressing was indeed the (german) CARLP16. but for some reason they quit making those soon and released the (uk) HUTLP2. this version is not remastered.

it was only in 1994 that they released the HUTLP2X remastered version.

years later, an american looking version (CAROL 1705) was pressed. this one is also remastered. if you find a sealed gish now, it’s most likely this version.

in reply to: WTF is an IBAN/BIC Number? #19044

I need to pay a for an eBay item and the seller doesn’t accept PayPal. They want an international bank transfer using a IBAN/BIC number. Anyone ever done this? How much does the bank charge to pull this off?[/quote:1u83lf4z]
iban = international bank account number
bic / swift = bank identifier code

these codes are standardized, and used to make payments within europe. very easy, because now you no longer have to worry about the format of foreign bank account numbers.

i don’t know if you can make a payment using these two numbers when you’re in the united states. i imagine making a bank transfer from the usa to a european account will be expensive, no matter if you use iban/bic or another way to identify the seller’s bank account. more info at your bank, i guess.

in reply to: Machina II, who owns the original vinyl anyway? #18724

if i’m not mistaken, leno was holding the empty sleeve of billy’s copy.

there’s a list of who is known to have a copy. i can’t find it right now though.

in reply to: New Grey Tristessa On Ebay #18494

looks like a bit of a dodgy seller. he doesn’t mention in what condition the single is in, except for some vague warnings that there might be some wear. not very interesting, in my opinion, unless the price stays low.

    in reply to: 1998 06 04 #18374

    hahaha.

well, i think i already have the audio as well. it’s available already, out there.

sorry guys! i was away for the weekend. the satellite thingy didn’t work in paris.

as said before: white box is real, but it’s not a promo of the first pressing, but simply the second pressing.

i also believe that the second pressing is harder to find than the first (numbered) one.

and yeah, that townhouse dmm is part of the matrix code on both versions. nothing special about that.

i think the only difference in matrix code between the first and second pressing is on side C, where it says HUTTLP 30 C-2-1-1 instead of HUTTLP 30 C-1-1-1. side C is different on the second pressing.

is this the audio from that video? i think i have the dvd.

the show was filmed (professionally) by several cameras, just like most of the other adore concerts. it was never released though. but somehow some french fans were able to get a copy of the footage of one camera. the audio captured by this camera isn’t that great though. (the audio wasn’t meant to be good: of course they also made a good audio recording to use for the final result, if they were ever going to broadcast it.)

in reply to: 19 October 2000 – Delabel FR live promo CDs #18258

i already searched for other bootlegs here, and it looks like i have three different sources for this show, although i think one is an audience recording, so not interesting in this case.[/quote:4a19l8uc]

how do you find other sources so fast? where do these exist?[/quote:4a19l8uc]
i have a couple of hundreds of bootlegs at home. ;)
all i had to do was locate the correct pile and then in that pile, find the correct cds.

in reply to: 19 October 2000 – Delabel FR live promo CDs #18250

you can upload files to http://www.mediafire.com and then share the link with the proper people. you don’t need an account to upload files. maximum file size there is 100 mb.

i’m sorry, but i won’t have time to compare with the other sources until after the weekend. and next week i’m quite busy too. i already searched for other bootlegs here, and it looks like i have three different sources for this show, although i think one is an audience recording, so not interesting in this case.

Still problems with swallowing food and drinks, and some fever though.[/quote:3ersy62i]
    get well soon!

have you tried eating some ice cream before eating or drinking anything else? i did that when my throat hurt so much that i couldn’t swallow without dying of pain and it helped a lot. the cold of the ice cream numbed it for a while.

also, ice cream is yummy. :)

    It’s up…

i hope they will include europe on this gish tour.

in reply to: Your Holy Grail #18004

i can’t really think of one item that would be my holy grail.

things that aren’t so rare, but that i like a lot as well:
    – all my siamese dream vinyls, in different colours.
    – three tafh boxes, still sealed, all different releases.

in these cases, the quantity plays a role as well.

in reply to: pre- Gish/Gish box set and tour #17991

plus, who knows, maybe he will dig out something no ones heard.[/quote:1il71qwg]
the thing is, if there are still unheard songs left from the gish era, then they most likely won’t be very good. because if they were good, they would have been selected for mashed potatoes, or pisces iscariot, or as a b-side.
