Like Cult Hero said, I do believe in separation of church and state though, unfortunately in reality that doesn’t happen, even in the US which is all big on that. [/quote:2mqn9e26]

The US is big on Church with state, to be honest. Think about it – the Republican party, to the best of my knowledge, are very much big on Christianity. The whole ID vs. Evolution, and trying to get ID into the science classrooms (INTELLIGENT DESIGN IS NOT SCIENCE FOR FUCKS SAKE). Sex-ed, which seems to revolve around the very Christian ‘abstinence until marriage’, organized by Christian organizations. There is a MASSIVE stigma in the US on not being Christian, especially on being atheist. I mean, how can a secular country be able to have a load of inhabitants that will switch denominations to their partners so that they can marry properly?!? It just goes to show they don’t actually believe, but feel the need to show they believe in God. It’s ridiculous

Those are only a few examples, but the US is becoming ever more the Christian country. No other country in the world that has a law stating that it’s to remain secular has a friggin bible belt!!!

Guess who America voted Number one American who ever existed?

    Jesus.

    I shit you not.

in reply to: Billy and Jimmy interview #22176

I think in one of the earlier articles in this series they talk about negativity on the SP online community, that it is in fact a loud minority who complain, but are still in fact fans who buy releases and attend concerts.
Perhaps Billy didn’t read that and assumes those ppl reflect the majority of the older fans?[/quote:2vqx71ya]

They reflect the older fans because they’re the loudest of the older fans. They’re the ones who are getting the attention of the people they may be complaining about.

Think of it like this – Billy is standing in front of 1000 fans, and all the fans are quietly talking amongst themselves, whilst looking at Billy. Billy is too far away, and there are too many voices to discern an opinion. Then one fan in the middle of the crowd yells "Zeitgeist was shit!", their voice carrying out over the quiet murmurs. This is the only clear voice Billy hears.

    That’s my hypothesis anyway.

    Well I guess I am stuck here 4 ever-cravings of SP music..lol..
    I get what your saying
I have been reading a little tiny amount on Buddhism, but not a whole lot. I have loved what I have read that’s for sure. It seems pure…[/quote:1q274b6e]

It’s about the only large belief system (technically, I don’t think it’s classed as a religion) that hasn’t got any corrupt or deluded followers, as far as I’m aware. It’s about the only serious belief system I can get on board with, mostly because of the intrinsically peaceful nature of it.

in reply to: RIP: gish box set and tour #22139

I only think that it’s very selfish to criticize the decision to play the same setlist on a tour. As if the band is only playing for this 1 guy every night of the tour. As if there aren’t many many circumstances that influence such decision. And besides, is a Smashing Pumpkins song less enjoyable just because you know it’s being played? Really, I don’t get it. The new signature of Reggaeluv2000 says it all, if you ask me (and her probably too)…[/quote:3e77i98p]

It may not be selfish because he may be expressing the opinions of many. And besides, isn’t an opinion what you think of something?

And it could be considered less enjoyable for several things. Firstly, the fact that you aren’t seeing a ‘unique’ show – your seeing pretty much the same show as everybody else on the tour. And secondly, it could be that the band’s heart isn’t really in it, that they’re just going through the motions each night instead of really enjoying the show, instead of putting effort in. I highly doubt SP will be like that, but it is a possible problem, particularly likely in some other bands.

I believe that we live in a material universe i.e one composed of matter and energy. There is nothing spiritual, be it God, ghosts or reincarnation. I find it difficult to comprehend that people can hold unwavering belief that there is an all powerful God who will answer any prayer, despite all conflicting evidence (There was a scientific trial for this – a lot of medical patients were divided into four categories – those who knew they were being prayed for, those who didn’t know they were being prayed for, those who knew they weren’t being prayed for, and those who didn’t know they weren’t being prayed for. The recovery rates were all the same to within a certain margin, except for the people who didn’t know they were being prayed for. Peculiarly. It was considered an anomalous result.) and that the same God loves absolutely everybody. Except homosexuals. And bisexuals. And Jews. And Muslims. And Atheists. And just about any non-believer. And anybody from a different denomination.

I just don’t understand how people can believe in all that. Also, I can’t believe the sheer idiocy of some of the believers (not all) and even worse, the ridiculously disgusting levels of hypocrisy shown at times.

I just find that logic, common sense and science seems to show that there is nothing ‘supernatural’.

that guy is a dummy, you don’t tell billy that playing the same songs every night is bullshit. he is in charge, whatever he wants to do he can do, so shut the flip up and enjoy that you even get to see them.[/quote:1opn38i4]

I thought it was a sort of good thing, to be honest.

Firstly, it shows that he’s not blindly praising each and every thing SP do – it shows that he’s able to formulate his own opinions on matters.

And secondly, calling it bullshit right to Billy’s face shows that he’s able to voice his opinions, and most importantly treat Billy as a person. Of course it could be interpreted as disrespectful, and seeing as we don’t know the inflexion in the voice etc. we don’t know whether it was just blunt criticism or anger, or whatever.

No, but there were signs of junkies and vandals.

I can’t imagine them having a single track physical release….well….I hope not anyway.
Didn’t they do that on American Gothic too? (No physical release in the US either?)[/quote:2hofjgf6]

Yeah, which is why this doesn’t surprise me.

I’m glad that I’m getting a physical release, but I feel sad for you guys across the Atlantic.

Well, I’m back from my little Urban Exploration. Was quite fun, although I was disappointed that I couldn’t get inside the one building I really wanted to – the ‘3M building’. But I did get into a car park that had most of its upper levels (from 5 to top level, I think) blocked off.

And here are some pretty rubbish photos I took with my Cam phone, and then touched up.

Some pretty weathered stairs I found

Haha, you honestly don’t have to worry!

in reply to: Post your thoughts #10226

Mostly just to experience something, to do something interesting for me. I will take my pictures (on my crappy camera phone) but mostly just for fun, to be honest.

in reply to: Post your thoughts #10223

I know. I’m not an idiot, so I will be careful. And I don’t plan on going to places others haven’t been already. That way, others have already made a path for me.

in reply to: Post your thoughts #10221

I’ve decided that, depending on weather, food times (If I have a cooked meal at midday I can simply take some biscuits or something with me for the evening) and whether my parents let me, tomorrow I’m going to go .

Does anyone else do this, and if so, can you give me some advice?

And everybody, do you reckon this is a good idea? I mean, I don’t have my targets set too high yet, but it’s something I’m certainly interested in.

.jpg, .bmp, .pdf, .doc are all welcome. Any other extensions may prove impossible to open without standard software. Please submit accordingly.[/quote:2tot2wn1]

I assume .png will be allowed. If it can be opened in MSPaint, it’s pretty much standard. Plus, it’s a lossless format.

Also, anybody using .bmp should be shot. The quality is just as good in .png and .bmp are unnecessarily huge filesizes.

For anybody without decent image software, try . It’s free!

    Awesome!

I will get to work straight away :D

*edit* Are we allowed to submit multiple entries?

Linked (very much directly) in the new PMM article (http://www.smashingpumpkins.com/news_5226)

aaaand we’re acknowledged even further by them! They put effort into including us! I mean, look at this picture:

The moving thing was most likely a satellite.

And the star thing might have been Venus. I’m not sure what your night sky would look like, but Venus is visible to the naked eye, and looks like a bright star that has some faint colour.

in reply to: Ignore This #21616

    I might be.

You had no text with your original post, and your title was cryptic, so I just had to take the video at face value and judge it from there…

My advice? Use the web links to download the FLV from youtube or other sites, and convert them in SUPER

in reply to: Ignore This #21614

Ok, I didn’t put it that well.

It seems to be talking about a conspiracy that Zionists (which is very much a Jewish/Semitic organization thingy) are controlling the mass media, the government, or whatever. At least, that’s what the link the video gave at the end goes on about.

in reply to: Ignore This #21612

I watched it too. Whilst I understand and agree with the message of turning off the TV and seeing the real world etc. etc, A conspiracy that Jews control the world?!?

I mean what the hell. That sounds, frankly, ridiculous.
