You’re looking for a Machina II bootleg on vinyl?[/quote:1q06dbrl]

    Exactly. :)

Or, in better words: Machina 2 on vinyl, and it doesn’t matter, whether it is one of the orriginal 25 or not.

And I’m sure, a lot of people would anticipate it if this would exist.[/quote:1q06dbrl]

    Funny—–

    Shit is:
I’d still have to look up which rip is the best >>>>

    it IS NOT!!! >>>>>
    – the virgin cdr promo rip
    – the spifc rip
    – the EA rip
    – the Q101 rip

I KNOW the Q101 rip was edited and bettered-
    that’s the one I play ;)

    for a vinyl cut——

just bring a copy of the best rip to yout ears to a vinyl one-of dub-plate cutter and have it done—-
    tadaa—-

that’s basically all the band ever did-
and then and there you have your vinyl copy-
to be played at best quality aroud 25 times—-
    just like the original—–

    yeah?
yeah! for real – why did you think even JC has a CDR copy of the set (to play we esteem)….????

the true M2 set can’t be played more than 25 times or something to that degree-
than it’s over and done with-

    so –
go ahead and make yourself a copy of the set on non-lacqured dub plate vinyl—-
    for max 25 plays—-

    or –
go ahead and download the best option available-
    and –
    enjoy the music –
as TSP wanted it to be ;)

    basically this info is correct—

    so: 5.000+++ copies…

in a way: yes it’s rare as a lot of cds and stuff are more common-
too: collectors of the other band’s will want/need this one too-

    still-
    these numbers are correct—-
    basically- limited to 5.000
but un-numbered copies do exist and thus…..

Deal. Sounds like a cool plan. 8)

And thanks everybody for the compliments. It’s a fine compilation again indeed!

(Sometimes I wished I was Billy Corgan his Media Advisor, so we could decide together what to release when… It would double up the # of releases, AND triple the quality of it! Hehe, kidding!)

Hope you enjoy this one again, and someday I’ll create another one I’m sure. Might take a few months again, as it is quite a job, and my free time is scarce lately, as I’m living together now for almost 6 months…[/quote:vbspk2p9]

    nice one Arthur-
we will conjure up a nice one!!!
won’t take up too much of your time-

    good work!
    awesome!
all the comps have been way cool!!!!

    now!
ok Arthur- since there’s gonna be a listening party of some kind at my place—-
not anywhere very soon as I’m too busy, but still; it will be in a few weeks’ time ;)

how about an \"avant-garde\" comp???? ;)
Compiling all the WTF songs TSP did?
Or not all – but well, you know; a selection—-
As they’ve done many and I’m not pointing towards covers or anything live now….
Just from the basic catalogue there’s enough stuff there to fill quite a nice comp….
    Don’t you think???

    So Arthur-
Add that one to the TO DO list at the listening party ;)))
Another must-do is listening through some gems on the new turntable… ;)
    Plus plus plus….
    We will work it out!!!
    I just can’t wait in a way-
    But let’s set a date first ;)

    Don’t worry all of you—
I guess from this session Arthur and I and the rest will come up with some cool plans for future comps, won’t we Arthur????

    it’s still way over priced-
    still-
    this shirt afaik IS legit—-
i’d have to go thru a lot of emails!
archived in txt-files and in a paper archive here in my office-
    BUT-
i KNOW for sure someone told me/mailed me/told me by phone back in my die-hard researching days there WERE shirts made to accompany this release and there were VERY few out there and I recall having seen one once on ebay (just like I have the rag paper test press sleeve archived somewhere from an auction way back when, but just can’t find out where any longer…) ….
the thing is legit and real—
damned thing is just way over priced…
    that’s all-
still- this one with a proper provenance would mean way more to me than a LiD cassette which Barry is well able to churn out even today, way past the original press run…
not to say he does so, but this IS the real design as I’ve seen before and verified then way back when with Mike and others… so…
    pity it’s over priced ;)

    meaning?[/quote:1en64m74]

i just pointed this out to Arthur-
    cause it’s not just funny-
    it’s a VERY deliberate choice-
    you don’t JUST switch colours—-

the 1994 promo was blue with red hearts-
the new promos are blue with red hearts-
the commercial releases including the dvd are reversed-

    now-
if you’d wanna differentiate between the original 1994 promo which is rare as fuck and thus expensive at auctions and such—-
you would expect the new promos to follow the suit of the commercial release-
so that’s not the point of why-

if you’d wanna differentiatie betwen the promo and the commercial release this kinda makes sense-
but it really doesn’t as a lot of promo releases are basically the commercial release witha different sleeve denoting the promotional code and nature or even less: a sticker…

    so-
    why?
i don’t know; it just occured to me-
and i find it kinda funny-
and kinda triggered my curiosity, that’s why i told Arthur about it-

does anyone have a valid idea as to why the promos use the old colour scheme and the commercial releases reverse this?

    also-
different glass masters were used for this production run-
    see the matrix codes::::

USA promo matrix – 70876 1754728AVRE1 MASTERED BY EMI MFG 1-1-1 IFPI L044 ifpi 1686
USA commercial matrix – 70876 1754728AVRE1 1-1-2 IFPI L044 MASTERED BY EMI MFG. IFPI 1668
(interesting note – note the typo in the IFPI code!!!)
    >>> i.e. same glass master basically, but glass master nr.2 for the run from which the cd on SPFreaks was made…

    UK promo matrix – EMI UDEN CDPHUT 79 @ 1 1-1-1-NL IFPI L046 ifpi 15DD
    UK commercial matrix – EMI UDEN 5427062 @ 1 1-1-19-NL IFPI L046 ifpi 15AF
    >>> i.e. from the release code the same glass master, but wit the added/edited nr.19 (international glass master nr.19 for full production that is basically; could possibly be the nineteenth master UDEN made for the full run to be pressed as you need numerous glass masters for mass production)

    hmmmm—-

does someone OWN a glass master?
does someone collect these? own these? hunt these down?
    i mean-
there are people that own pressing plates for vinyl-
basically this is the same deal, i.e. a "negative" of the actual cd….
for full press runs in the thousands there are NUMEROUS glass masters around somewhere ;)
just curious again, that’s all ;)

    cheers!

    damn!
that’s totally way too expensive, even for this item-
however: the shirt seems to be real-
i.e.: there WERE some (very very very few) shirt made then, I recall from research I did into the early stuff and mail-conversations with Mike (Limited Potential) and Barry (Halo)…
One could easily fake one, but I saw one before and it looked exactly like this one—
Condition seems to be awesome too-
Still: way too much money, but cool item ;)

    splendid idea-
    indeed— splendid releases!
expensive, but well made I gather—-

    err-
i just don’t know the specifics of the contracts for these artists they did release-
    and for TSP with Zeitgeist-
it might be Warner/Reprise does hold a claim to all the recordings-
if not this would be rather awesome-

    then again-
wouldn’t it be way more cool than a very expensive elaborate Zeitgeist vinyl set—-
    to get from this company-
some kind of deluxe editions from the classic albums????
like true specialist/freaks sets for Gish/Siamese et al?

    now-
that would rock MY boat ;)

in reply to: Did anyone hear about FOL? #31671

    Sven
    Spectator

now that’s the full song has been released-

referring back to my post questioning if this song was commisioned for, written and recorded for, whatever… the Hyunadia-ad…
i think we can now clearly and sufficiently conclude or at least assume THAT wasn’t the case—-

Fear of Love (FOL) has nothing to do at the content level with the ad or whatever-

Fear of Love (FOL) however to me does sound like a latter day Zeitgeist song-
I just wouldn’t say – based on the sound and feel of FOH this is a pure Zeitgeist out-take-
However— FOH kinda lacks the bitter anger and spite and vitriol of Superchrist and GLOW—-

Somehow I tend to kinda somehow, somewhere see FOH fit into the true but latter day Zeitgeist sessions-

    So-
1- I’d say FOL was NOT recorded AFTER Zeitgeist and/or the Zeitgeist sessions-
2- I’d say FOL was NOT recorded like GLOW and Superchrist after the album, but somewhere with the album tracks-
3- I’d say FOL was, if NOT recorded with the album tracks, recorded in one flow with either GLOW or Superchrist…. it’s a stomper, a jam, a flow of sorts… it DOES reminder me somewhat of the 1996/1997-era and riffs like in the Pastichio Medley, parts of which were rehashed for GLOW, weren’t they?
4- I’d say— whenever, wherever (I’m trying to figure this out though and maybe I’m succesful and you’ll read something about it on the PMM-section of SP.com, working on it, just don’t COUNT on it…) FOL was recorded and all— what we see and hear now is, apart from GLOW (which DID get a digital official download release through standard download outlets), the fist instance of a TSP song being released totally devoid of any normal music industry way of distribution and thus this maybe a pointer towards the future—-

    So-
Apart from my mourned lack of a physical release format-
I totally mourn the lack of liner notes and credits-
So maybe we’ll learn something about the genises and recording of FOL soon-
Or maybe we as SPFreaks will have to content ourselves with the sounds—-
As we started out all along-
And bear the burden of the public at large’s non-interest in formats, figures, credits and whatever-
And thus bear the burder of SPFreaks’s lack of hard info on this song’s recording et al….

    Well-
    Still—-
For me it all started with the sound-
For me FOL still brings me the NEW sound of TSP-
Which means TSP is still alive and kicking-
And thus moving now and into a new future-
    Thus-
As much as I think FOL is NOT a totally awesome song (yet way more rocking than a lot of the \"new\" or residency songs!!!) it proces TSP is here and now and alive and moving and breathing and releasing and forging ahead in creativity – either if FOL proves to be genuine NEW song or if FOL proves to be a shelved Zeitgeist-track; in the form of release of FOL….

All credit so still and above all to TSP for the release of FOL!!!

Wait and see what happens next-
Something tells me we just ain’t seen nothing yet in the ways of TSP getting their creativity and sound(s) out there-
Bringing it all back to where it all started with-
Bringing it all back to where TSP has always at the core and heart and soul’s been about—-

    THE SOUND!!!!
    And nothing but it ;))))

    And-
    Apart from our freaky collections-
Aren’t we above all in liove with the sound?
    So-
There you have it- surprise surprise totally—-
    A NEW FULL SONG!!!—-

    Enjoy?!!!!

in reply to: No more LPs #31760

    Sven
    Spectator

as much as i feel your emotions-
as much as i bear with the non-release or non-album stance with respect to the collector (including me that is) and what this might mean in the (near) future-
as much as i agree with BC and JC and thus The Smashing Pumpkins on their stance-

    people PLEASE—–!!!!

TSP has released a song through a game-
TSP had released a song with and ad (which you can now download)-
The American Gothic EP was more or less done indie on their somewhat own behalf-
The 2DVD set was more or less done indie on their somewhat own behalf-

    PLUS—
    TSP has said:
    – the album format is DEAD (and it IS for the major part, go figure and be real from the creational part of things!!!!)
    – nonetheless TSP WILL create no matter what!!!!

    SO—
Just chill the fuck out and wait and see-
    If it’s a NIN-kinda thing-
    Or a Radiohead-kinda thing-
Or several EPs coming up on cd or not-
Or several EPs bundled into an \"album\"-
Or somehow oldies and goodies no more, but still more and more creation to come in formats we might not have thought of-
MP3, USB-sticks, Flash-cards, EP-cds, vinyls, very limited edition physical release with the intention of online spreading, band-promoted torrents, whatever-

    BECAUSE-
Apart from the bitching and moaning about the formats-
Please celebrate the fact TSP is STILL active, NOW active and CREATIONAL now; CREATING now!
    Whatever the format of release—-
TSP is out there, getting out there, putting out there NOW!
Not what was and rehashing, but putting out there NOW what’s NOW; current and thus creation in and of and from NOW!

THAT’s the only reasion BC and JC with others are busy now creating as The Smashing Pumpkins-
It’s not and never was and never will be again about the format-
For now and from now on and now once and for ever stated clearly by BC and JC and thus by The Smashing Pumpkins:
The Smashing Pumpkins are about creation!- here and now!
Trust The Smashing Pumpkins this creation will reach your ears (or eyes, or whatever suits their creational format)—-

Expect the unexpected and above all- unexpect the expected-

    in reply to: Mispressings #31767

    I wouldn’t call that a misprint, Arthur.

I also have a Canadian release where the sad cd is red, and the happy one is blue (this release: http://www.spfreaks.com/default.aspx?pa … &item=2031). I believe this was done on purpose, and hence not a misprint. (But this is not my point.)

What you seem to have is this release, mixed up with an American release. (Obviously the pressing plant in Canada wouldn’t all of a sudden start pressing cds with the US matrix code, right?)

My conclusion: "rare" Canadian release with switched colours, messed up by someone by replacing the "happy blue" cd with a "sad blue" US cd. Maybe this happened in a used record store that had more copies of MCIS; and someone just put a red and a blue cd in a case, without looking more closely.[/quote:3g55bqfv]

1- what makes you think the Canadian colour switch was done on purpouse? Is there any reason to think it was?

2- the US matrix doens’t tell a lot- matrixes do wear out- so it’s kinda possible the Canadian pressing plant either switched to the US pressing matrix for the remainder or got the remainder pressed in the US…. or isn’t it?

3- your "conclusion" to be honest, to me, seems convoluted; why in the world would this happen apart from a true misplacement? i really do think a true Canadian colour mix-up, plus maybe a defective master-matrix glass-mother copy or something caused this- that is: as long as there as more than just one of these mixed-up copies— if it’s a one-off: you ARE totally right and I rest my case of course… but for know I guess we have to wait for more of the same to pop up to determine whether Arthur’s copy is a mix-up by a dealer or something or a true "mis-press" in some kind of numbers on the run by the Canadian press- right?

in reply to: Did anyone hear about FOL? #31631

    Sven

    First-

Do we KNOW this track WAS written for the ad?
Hyundai enlisted TSP to track the ad…
    So?
Why the fuck wouldn’t BC and JC pull a non-finished jam from the Zeitgeist-sessions (indeed: it sounds quite a lot like GLOW) and then sell it for the ad?
Basically that’s in line with the press-release, isn’t it?

    Or- secondly-

Do we BELIEVE or KNOW BC and JC (and possible others) went into the studio to record this song?

    I just don’t buy it-
    For me-
    It’s like Hyundai wanted TSP-
TSP had a left-over track which wasn’t too bad when tailored to 30 secs-
    This edit was sold-
Hyundai happy – TSP happy (and somewhat money earned, deservedly) – plus: some publicity gained!
Fair deal on both parts –
    Tadah!

The song just doesn’t seem to match the vibe of the images or anything-
It’s a score to the ad and that’s that-
And that’s what the press release tells us-
It DOESN’T however EXPLICITELY say so the song was commisioned and written and recorded for the ad—-

So, well yeah, some 30 secs of unheard material-
    That’s all folks-
And Hyundai happy and TSP happy and merry and some marketing bonus points!
    Clever move-
But I just don’t think this was MADE for the ad-
But that’s just my idea of this all—-

it was only $50 bucks actually. once its properly conserved, which i think a poster like that deserves it will probably have cost $100 or so, but that’s ok. i love that poster! and given its rarity i think it deserves the care.[/quote:9otatvbi]
That is one of the best deals ever, that I heard of recently. That poster has a potential value of hundreds of dollars (I wouldn’t even consider selling my copy for 500 US$, for example), and it’s only the third one I have seen so far. But besides rarity and price, it’s the most beautiful Smashing Pumpkins poster I know. blueczarina, you can be VERY proud of yourself, if you ask me. Rare gem, very good price and a lifetime enjoyment. 8)[/quote:9otatvbi]

while a poster as such and in and of itself might no be THAT valuable normally – THIS ONE is a true and stunning beauty and trust me- I’ve seen it up close and personally as I’ve seen Arthur’s copy… this IS a gem and a true one and one of the very few items Arthur has in his collection I totally envy— this poster – as small as it is – is sheer stunning beauty – brilliant design and printing; totally awesome!!!!

the sticky squares are indeed for either a divider in a rack-
or to mount the card on a door or something, to stick it on a glass plate and thus display it-
i guess the rack-option is the best, never seen it as such though anywhere in a FNAC… did see it two times on a glass door or shopwindow-
but all is welll- i’ve got a couple of those on my wall, I think these are cute ;)

I compared my SD vinyls. Some vinyls are indeed more flexible than others. I guess this could indicate that they’re not as thick/heavy.
I don’t have a scale, so I can’t weigh them. And I don’t trust my hands to precisely feel the difference in weight between to vinyls.

I call the vinyl colours you have black, purple and peach.
In my collection, the black and the peach vinyl feel similar, the purple vinyl seems to be a bit thinner.

I also compared with the UK Hut release, and that one is also thicker. But I really doubt any of the Siamese Dream vinyls weigh 180 gram.[/quote:1yxgstei]

the purple ones being/feeling lighter does make sense-
it’s somewhat translucent/transparent vinyl with colour swooshes—
i.e. – non-solid vinyl like the black or orange ones which tends to have a higher density normally-

although it might seem self-complementing and such—-
this very articel got the thumbs up from BC-
as in: I was told he was very happy with it—-
    and considering IAGW and all-
and the amount of effort i have taken to figure in IAGW’s vibe and the sentiments therein i guess this piece was all worthwhile—- owwww, and while i’m on topic- not in the least part because a lot of younger fans have never thought of the fact Gossamer in fact really is knda akin to a lot of stuff PF used to do— so, like in the article- i’m not saying it’s a rip or anything, just saying—- check out side B of the Meddle LP and enjoy—
    and ow yeah—-
all the best for 2009 folks!!!
    cheers, sven

Anyone know why it’s so hard to get a hold of? :?[/quote:9lmn232k]

    well
    errrr
basically because it’s not really an official "limited edition to so and so many copies" kinda release—
    but imagine-
the label’s trying out a new "supergroup" band thing, releasing vinyl and cd singles (the latter not being a very popular format anymore) so how many were pressed?
would that number be anywhere up in the 5.000-10.000 range or maybe even way way way less?
my thoughts are with the latter option-
for the promo – they did try hard for radio promotion and all, those can be found relatively equally hard/easy as the cd-single….
press runs for singles nowadays tend to be quite low, especially on cd…

    Yeah well-
It might be the \"easy\" way to blame the label-
But indeed: having to come up with the new master mix and all it costs money-
    Reimagining the art and all-
Then it all boils down to- what expect in terms of sale figures and who’s going to cough up the financing.
I guess it’s still a label decision to either do it or not.
The UK 7\" market is still strong, so that might explain the two Zeitgeist vinyl singles.
As for MCIS singles- I’ve never quite understood why they didn’t do those on vinyl too- I’m with you there. That would have been a sure fire seller I guess…
Zwan got the 7\" singles plus the 2LP…
BCs solo record didn’t, neither so it seems will Zeitgeist as an album-
Bummer and a pity I think-
However: I’d rather have no vinyl release than a shitty one-
